UAI 2017 - Call for Workshops

Proposals are solicited for workshops to be held in conjunction with The Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence (UAI) in Sydney, Australia, on August 11-15, 2017. The workshops are held on Tuesday, August 15. They present an excellent opportunity to address a specific topic in probabilistic AI, including applications, theory, knowledge representation, machine learning, optimization, and reasoning under uncertainty.

The UAI conference is held immediately after the ICML conference at the same venue, and right before the IJCAI conference in Melbourne. Workshop organizers may take this as an opportunity to engage broadly.

We seek proposals for half-day or full-day workshops. The ideal workshop covers a compelling subject of current or upcoming research, and includes an impressive set of speakers with diverse backgrounds. Formats that spur discussion among participants and identification of open problems and challenges are encouraged.

Important dates

  • Workshop proposal deadline: April 5, 2017, 11:59 pm SST (Samoa Standard Time)
  • Workshop acceptance notification: April 10, 2017
  • Workshop day: August 15, 2017

Organization

The format, style, and content of accepted workshops is under the control of the workshop organizers. Full-day workshops can be split into morning and afternoon sessions. Workshop organizers are expected to manage the workshop content, specify the format, invite experts in the domain, be present to moderate the discussion and panels, and maintain a website for the workshop. Workshop registration will be handled centrally by the main conference.

Proposal Format

Proposals should clearly specify the following:
  • Title and topic
  • Organizers and their short bio
  • Motivation and relevance
  • Goals, expected outcomes, and results of previous editions (if applicable)
  • Description of target audience and expected participation
  • Potential list of invited speakers
  • Potential list of program committee members
  • Characteristics of the workshop, including length and structure, and type of contributions

Submission

Workshop proposals should be submitted via email in PDF format by April 5, 2017. Earlier discussion and submissions are encouraged.

We look forward to hosting your workshop.
