UAI 2017 - Scholarship Program

A limited number of scholarships will be provided to authors of accepted papers in order to subsidize travel, registration, and housing expenses for UAI 2017. Any author can apply, but students authors will be given priority.

Student recipients may be asked to help with several hours of volunteer work, where 'helping' mostly means sitting behind the desk, helping with distribution of materials, solving small problems with registrations and equipment, and the like. We will make sure you will not have any duties during the session when your paper is scheduled to be presented.

Application Process

Authors wishing to receive a UAI 2017 scholarship are asked to send an email with the following information:

  • Name
  • Institution
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Paper accepted at UAI 2017
  • Expected travel cost
  • Amount of support expected from other sources, if any

    • Additionally, for students:

  • Type of degree and expected completion date
  • Name and email of advisor
  • Whether you are willing to be a student volunteer (as explained above). If yes, which days you will be present at the conference.

    • Applications should be emailed with the title "UAI-17 SCHOLARSHIP", to: uai17org@gmail.com before June 30, 2017. A decision will be notified by July 7, 2017.

    Please note: even if your scholarship is accepted, you may only receive a part of the amount you applied for. However, successful applicants will also receive free registration (to tutorials, conference and workshops).

    UAI 2017 - Volunteer Positions

    In addition to Travel Scholarships, there will a small number of student volunteer positions. A student volunteer receives free registration to UAI 2017 (tutorials, conference and worskshops). If you have already submitted a Travel Scholarship application, we will automatically consider you also for volunteering if we cannot give you a travel scholarship, so you need not do anything else.

    If you are a student but not an author, please send the following information to uai17org@gmail.com, with the subject UAI-17 VOLUNTEERING and with the following contents:

  • Name
  • Institution
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone number (mobile for use at the conference, if available)
  • Amount of support expected from other sources, if any
  • Type of degree and expected completion date
  • Name and email of advisor

    • We will announce the decisions for volunteers by July 7, 2017.
