Instructions for the final camera-ready version of an accepted paper

The deadline for the final version is Wednesday, May 14 (midnight GMT). Please respect this strict deadline - any delays will jeopardize the printing of the proceedings.

If your original submission was over 8 pages long, you need to pay extra page fee(s), 100EUR/extra page. The registration page has an option for this. Naturally only one of the co-authors has to pay this fee.

Instructions for oral presentations

The technical programme is still under construction, but the talks will be 20 minutes long, and there will be 5 minutes for questions and for switching the speaker (so the talks are NOT 25 minutes long, although the programme will be divided into 25 minute slots!).

Instructions for poster presentations

The poster session will be organized on Thursday, July 10, at 6:15pm-9pm, with a preceeding poster spotlight session taking place at 5:15pm-6:15pm. Each spotligh presentation is allowed 90 seconds only and only one slide can be used. The poster stands are 95 cm wide and 115 cm high (37.4 x 45.3 inches). An A0-size poster is 84.1 x 118.9 cm (33.11 x 46.81 inches) and fits these stands easily (even if the poster is a few centimeters too long.)

Student-Author Travel Grants

UAI has limited funds available to provide financial support to student authors of papers at UAI-08. For instructions how to apply, see http://uai2008.cs.helsinki.fi/grants.shtml

UAI 2008 paper formatting instructions

Your submitted paper must be formatted in the UAI proceedings format and must be submitted as a PDF rendering that uses only Type I fonts. Please do not make changes to the standard format. Papers that are over length or violate the UAI proceedings format may be refused by the publisher. The standard UAI paper length is eight (8) pages, including all figures and bibliography. Authors may optionally purchase up to two (2) additional pages for a fee, the size of which will be determined later (in 2007 the fee was $150 US/page). We strongly encourage the submissions to be no more than 8 pages long: although 9 or 10 pages long submissions will not be rejected, please note that we will require the final camera-ready version to be at least as long as the submitted version (so submitting a paper with 1(2) extra page(s) means a commitment to pay the extra page fee(s), if the submission is accepted).

For your convenience, we are providing the following LaTeX style files:

For an example of how to prepare a paper for UAI using LaTeX you can refer to the source of the proceedings format:

Note that using LaTeX is really the only way to achieve perfect compatibility with the UAI proceedings format, but we are willing to accept papers formatted using other systems, as long as they achieve the UAI proceedings format to a high degree of fidelity.

The UAI review process is NOT blind, so please make sure that the submission contains the names and addresses of all the authors as shown in the style file.

UAI 2008 paper submission

UAI 2008 requires electronic submission of papers and abstracts according to the instructions given above. If authors have special circumstances that prevent electronic submission, arrangements can be made directly with the program co-chairs (contact address: pc-chairs(at)uai2008.confmaster.net)

Electronic submission can be done here: http://uai2008.confmaster.net
before midnight GMT February 29 (7pm EST, 4pm PST).

A submitted paper should not be under review by any other conference or scientific journal at the time it is submitted to UAI 2008 nor at any time during the reviewing period of UAI 2008.
